Curious -- yes, now I remember there are a few exceptions like that, possibly in the name of the "war on drugs" that maybe Soma could become a street drug.

Soma was made back ages ago when a lot of currently specified testing on things weren't made standard.

It was more lax to get a medication through the FDA -- now everything has to be tested to satisfy the FDA and DEA to the nth degree. Even Lyrica, which I would say scarcely classifies as a controlled substance, is put as C-V.

If we didn't have the FDA we have now, we wouldn't have Tylenol, a life saving anti-pyretic, one really of only two in the arsenal of things, the other being aspirin (another ancient drug), which is now not used under 18 because of Reye's Syndrome (again never examined at the time or known about).

Ibuprofen just doesn't really cut fever like acetaminophen, at least for me anyhow. It is primarily a pain agent.

Of course, not much above the standard dose of acetaminophen and you get into liver damage territory, something which unfortunately claims lives more in the UK -- but I won't go into details here for obvious reasons.
