> I feel people have different definitions of depression. Some work and feel good enough to do that. Some stay home, some can't get out of bed. And Since I've had anxiety for so many years what is normal anxiety and abnormal anxiety. For me seems I need excitement to feel better and stay on the go which isn't fast.
--I've experienced both the 'typical' depression (can't eat, can't sleep, down mood etc.) which always seems to be related to exogenous circumstances (breakup w/ boyfriend, family illness...) and the 'atypical' depression (can do nothing BUT sleep, increased appetite, 'leaden paralysis) which always seems to be endogenous (just me - from extended periods of extreme stress and negative thinking/guilt).
Stay up late to do Ebay posting and sleep late still not 8 hours of sleep. But if A great thing happens shouldn't I feel a sense of relief that something bad is over with good results. I don't so what causes that? Thanks Phillipa--I'm very ADHD with severe GAD and PTSD and I'm the same way (only really productive at night unless i take my Adderall and extreme chronic primary insomnia). It's a well-documented fact that ADDers feel let-down and almost depressed sometimes after an event that would produce satisfaction & feelings of self-worth in a "normal" person. The Amen Clinic website info & books have been very helpful in allowing me to accept that this a normal reaction for me.
Sorry if this was not helpful or a confusing/not well-written post. I'm new at this and am not on the right meds yet so i feel very discombobulated. Best of luck Phillipa!!
