It might help if you were able to determine the name of the antidepressant she was taking.

AD's can cause seizures, but some are much more likely to do so than others. Wellbutrin (Bupropion) can be an offender in this area.

Stress can also lower the seizure threshold like you were suggesting.

All you can do is test the hypothesis. Never abruptly discontinue an anticonvulsant. You would need to taper off it very slowly to avoid the risk of rebound seizures.

The only concern is that she might have a seizure while in a risky activity. If you do discontinue the lamictal be mindful of the possability of a seizure and be carefull to reduce acitvities that might put her in a risk of danger should a seizure occur. If she does go sizure free for a period off meds, then I would tend to favor your hypothesis.
