If you tried some benzos and they didn't work for your anxiety, your prognosis with other medications for anxiety may be a little bleak. Did you try Xanax or Clonazepam? These drugs are the real deal when it comes to anxiety. There success rates are phenomenal compared to other medications. That's why they call them sedatives.
The only other medication that I've heard has success rates approaching that of benzos for anxiety is Nardil.
You could try one of the TCA's as I'm considering, like Doxepin or as mentioned Amitryptiline, but again as mentioned, a benzo would be needed at least for the startup and then attempt reductions to assess the anxiolytic effects of your TCA.
