Childhood Trauma and Adult Inflammation

Posted by Jimmyboy on April 24, 2008, at 23:20:13

I thought this was an interesting article, that some might like to read, I believe it came out a week or two ago.

Whole article - http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/103753.php

"Conclusions - A history of childhood maltreatment contributes to the co-occurrence of depression and inflammation. Information about experiences of childhood maltreatment may help to identify depressed individuals with elevated inflammation levels and, thus, at greater risk of cardiovascular disease. "

From what I read , it seemed to say that some people with childhood trauma may exhibit exageratted immune resonse when they are encountering stress.

There seems to be a lot of evidence of a link between chronic inflammation and depression, and I know it has been discussed here and there on this board.

I have had really good success treating crippling anxiety and panic using GLA supplements, but when I'm under a moderate amount of stress I still crash into a lethargic fatigued type of depression. I very recently started taking all steps I could to lower my inflammation . I just started taking Trental, vitamin K, DHEA, GLA, curcumin to try to lower cytokines to see if it can help my depression.

Has anyone out there had success for treating depression by lowering pro-inflammatory cytokines? I would be very interested in hearing anyone's experiences.

JB
