Hi francineus,

I started Nardil 2 months ago. I had to go through the 2 weeks of no antidepressant, which was fine because the previous one I was on was a disaster, so I actually felt slightly better with nothing. I started at 15mg/day and am now up to 75mg/day. If all goes well, I'll be at 90mg in a week or two. 1mg/kg, if tolerated is recommended by research as a safe and effective dose, but some people do great on much less.

Anyways, Nardil kicked in for me within 10 days or so. This is faster than normal, but I had a huge positive response which has lasted so far. (crossing my fingers). I have had a few "bad" days, but mostly, my experience has been excellent.

I have had far fewer adverse effects with Nardil than with SSRI's or other antidepressants. Just some gastrointestinal issues, and insomnia. It has also made me very slightly hypomanic or euphoric at times, but that's a welcome side effect. It has been very minor, and just manifested itself by me being very talkative, nothing negative. Really, Nardil isn't as scary as it sounds. As long as you're careful with the diet, it's fine.

Anyways, Nardil has been great for me. Nothing else has worked so positively, and I've tried a lot of different meds in the past. I know this message sounds like a Nardil commercial, but it's not. Just because it worked well for me doesn't mean it's right for everyone. But good luck with it, and let me know how you're doing after you start, or if you have any questions.
