Old user...took Nardil originally in 1989 at 30 mg, had immediate relief of depression, felt "normal" a little over a year or two. Unfortunately the dose was never increased since Prozac had come out and the SSRI's were all the rage then.
Interim years: on every AD, antipsycotic abd mood stabalizer known to man with some good and bad responses but never as good as the MAO's. Took Marplan with great success in 1994 until Roche stopped making it. Left me high and dry for many years, lost alot of my life to depression from 1995 to today. I could work but never at any sustained level of success.
New user: started again in May 2007 at my urging, not my pdocs. Tried to go to 60 mg but had extreme hypotension (70/40) and GI side effects (Gas, constipation). Now at 45 mg with good response, could be better(?) at a higher dose if I was able to tolerate it, so will keep at 45 for now.
I also take Nortriptyline 50 mg. Perhaps this is needed to augment a lesser response from a lower dose of Nardil. Thanks Ace (NardilChampion) for being there and helping keep Nardil on the radar screen with your success on it.
Lots of us are on it now and your messages have alot to do with that!
