Luvox was the first psychiatric drug that I was put on in December 1999 for OCD and I remember it working wonderfully. The only side effect it had for me was sedation and I subsequently went through all of the other SSRIs trying to feel as "normal" as I did on Luvox but without the sedation. The closest thing I found was with Paxil CR but I did gain some weight on that. I then went on EMSAM when it came out here in the U.S. - like April '06 if I recall - and I've been tapering down over the last few weeks because I don't like the anxiety and sleep problems that it seems to cause me. That led me back to the drawing board (or I guess the "babble" board) and after some searching and some additional Google searching, I discovered that Jazz Pharmaceuticals is planning to introduce a controlled release version of Luvox in the beginning of 2008. Maybe this will be it for me? I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will be checking the press release page frequently. Perhaps Luvox CR will solve the sedation problem that I had with the original. (The CR version of Paxil was much better than the IR in my opinion.)
