Exactly, Phillipa. Its not something I would seek or encourage, though in this case it was a one off, the doctor was an outstanding professional and totally trustworthy, he knew me a number of years by that point, and apparently the recipient was in a very tight bind. I wouldn't have given them to anyone else under any circumstances. It is probable that I hadn't even opened the prescription at that point, but its so many years ago I cannot remember all the details.
The cat's prescription was actually a human heart drug that I was injecting him with twice a day by syringe. The cat did not live very long in spite of it so there was plenty left over. It had to be special ordered by the pharmacy because I needed a bottle rather than individual pre-measured doses in order to measure out cat-sized doses. It was expensive and not covered by insurance, obviously.
