One word. Nardil. This med gave me my life back. The SSRIs do work, if you enjoy not feeling ANY emotion. Drug induced apathy is not an effective way of conquering social phobia.
My experience with the MAOIs has been wonderful, to say the least. For me, these meds had a profound antidepressant/anti-anxiety effect, without apathy. I felt motivated, confident (pro social), optimistic, and "normal." I was able to experience the highs and lows of "normal" emotion.
