cats are not nocturnal

rather they are crepuscular.

If you've ever lived with mice or birds, you know that they are most active around the predawn-dawn as well as the crepuscule- that time of semi-darkness just after dusk.

The predators are active when the prey are active. Must be so, not the other way around.

I think the cat is stressed out. I took him on a 9 hour trip including 2 car rides, 3 airports and 2 long flights. He didn't meow once, and if I lifted his carrier onto my lap, we could feel each other's body warmth and it was soothing.

I think the 3 am yowling is because he gets disoriented and frightened. Then he sleeps more than usual during the day.

My guess is stress bordering on trauma, but he seems to be doing really well, all things considered.

catnip? meow
