help with social phobia drugs

Posted by jaybee9 on May 26, 2007, at 11:56:15

Hi everyone,

This is the first time i've posted on this site but have read loads of messages and its helped me alot.
My problem is depression and social anxiety. I don't get severe depression but a sort of constant lack of interest and excitement about everything. This all started after a period when I was younger of taking alot of ecstacy which I am sure has altered my brain chemistry and not in a good way!
I've tried numerous medications in the past - seroxat - worked for about 6 months but then gave me really bad headaches.
Effexor, cipramil - helped a bit but I was still very anxious.
Moclobemide - worked ok at first then did nothing.
SAMe - made me very anxious
Then a month ago Istopped the SAMe and started taking L-Tyrosine 3000mg first thing in the morning and GABA 3000mg at night, I felt like a new man, I was very sociable and motivated and bit happier. But unfortunately after about two weeks the effects wore off. I'm still not sure if it was the gaba or the tyrosine that helped me but I 'm thinking of trying someting that works on dopamine as tyrosine does.

So what do people think about me trying Amisulpride and can this be taken with GABA at night.
Would really appreciate some help as I've tried my best on my own to research and find out as much as I can as my docs not really very helpfull but just need abit of advice

Thanks very much
Jay
