lyme is caused by borellia spirochetal bacteria, of which there are a different types associated with different regions. it isn't a virus, it may however affect the body in a way that cause already present virii to become more of a problem. this may be an issue for people who have had mono, of which those who do also have lyme seem to more consistently test positive for mono on a more long-term "chronic" basis. if there is a basis for "chronic mono" that is, and is no longer just purely theoretical...
