No I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried!
So my oldest brother is seeing a Russian psychiatrist who conducts clinical trials for a big pharma company in St Petersburg. I met up with him and his new gf this weekend. Apparently patients don't get paid to test out drugs or take part in trials. And guess what? Students actually can bribe themselves through university, and also to pass your driving test you need to brine the instructor. I can't really comprehend it! Oh and if you're in hospital you (or your relatives) also need to bribe the doctors and nurses. Oh well.
She seemed to know her stuff! Without giving too much away of my own history, of course.
She's familar with Rhodiola rosea, which is nice. I always thought it abit of a myth for some reason that its extensively used in Russia. And she gave my brother valerian to help him sleep and a few other things.
Well. I thought you'd all be interested in hearing abit about Russian psychiatry........and my slightly bizarre family. He does get around, my brother.
Kind regards
Meri
