I experienced flu like symptoms when I came off 10 years of Prozac.
I had read "The Yeast Connection" and had also bought into the whole Candida thing before.
My GP gave me Nystatin and Duflucan for months and then tested me for yeast. The swab of my mouth had absolutely not ONE yeast found in it. He did this for me to show me that the candida thing was hysteria.
I had no yeast but still had so many of the symptoms in the book.
I soon realized that there is alot of "junk science" out there. Be careful of what you read especially on the internet and check sources to make sure they have validity.
A good wesite that my GP aproves of is aafp.org.
You can do a search for whatever medical thing you want to read about.
My advice to you is to try not to be your own doctor and get a doctor you trust and put your trust in them.
I know how scary it is when they start throwing meds at you, but this is the reality when you enter the Psychological world of medicine.
Peoples body chemistries are so individual that sometimes pdocs have to try many different meds and or combos of meds until they find the one that works with your body chemistry.
It is a rude awakening when you come to realize that you are probably going to have to be on meds the rest of your life. I struggle with that every day of my life.
Give your doc a chance. If he or she is willing to listen to you and work with you as an allie in the war against your illness you can feel it in your gut, but you have to give up control a little to let them do their job.
If you really feel like they don't know what they are doing or don't care, by all means you should change docs.
The patient-doctor relationship is extremely important because you are intrusting them with your body, and your quality of life.
Best wishes to you.
