Well it makes sense then. Maybe it seemed like a promising bet for developing and testing the patch technology. Now that they got this, perhaps they'll move on to tackling others.

I think that it's the same premise that led to the development of nitroglycerine patches (since it works well sublingually) and oral contraceptives/ HRT- since hormonal creams have also been effective. That's my take on it anyway.
