For the past 25 years or so, I've been unable to tolerate any antidepressants, except MAOIs. Although most other ADs have produced a positive response, at the therapeutic level or below they caused extreme nervousness and discomfort. It was sort of like a continuous panic attack. In any event, my pdoc added Trileptal to my drug regimen about 9 months ago. Although I didn't think it was doing anything for a long time, I've finally concluded that it was offsetting this intolerable hyperstimulation. I concluded this after I was able to tolerate Remeron up to 45mg daily. Once in the past, I couldn't tolerate it at 30mg for than 3 days. As far as any Antidepressant benefits, I don't think so and I never tried it as monotherapy.

> Sorry could you clarify? Apparently it assisited with the overstimulation the Remeron was giving you? Are you still on Trileptal and at a high dose? I am so happy to hear you found a drug that works with your remeron. I hope the side effects of the Trileptal were not too bothersome as I know for some people they can be.

I am still on Trileptal although I recently went back on Parnate, which I was on for many years. I really don't need Trileptal now since MAO inhibitors don't cause hyper-anxiety. I am mainly staying on the Trileptal in case I go back on Remeron. My dosage is 900mg (600mg bedtime and 300mg morning). I've never noticed any side effects at that dosage.
