Me too. But I'm hoping it is temporary. After a year or two of trying different medication, I got Lithium to help my Effexor work better (is that called 'augmenting'?). After a month I was finally feeling better, but my thryoid number had leapt from 4ish to 25ish. I had to stop Li, which was AWFUL. Eventually I got to see my pdoc and he put me straight back on it, saying I clearly needed it, and that he had done more reading on the subject and it was less likely than he had thought to do my thyroid permanent damage.
I now take effexor, lithium and thyroxine. I'm doing well, though still not fully myself.
I live in the UK, and as a result of this thyroid problem all my prescriptions have become free! - an unexpected bonus.Does anyone out there know about how likely it is that my thyroid will go back to normal when all this is over? And does the length of time I'm on lithium make any difference?
thanks
