serotonin syndrome without meds??

Posted by holymama on June 17, 2006, at 12:47:48

I have been having horrible headaches that my doctor has called 'cluster headaches' -- they happen everyday (from noon, on), for weeks at a time. They occur only when I am in a mixed state -- and resolve when the mixed state ends. I suggested to my pdoc that perhaps the headaches were allergy related and were causing the mixed state -- as in the headaches were so disruptive and painful that they made me feel depressed and irritable and anxious. He brought up the term 'serotonin syndrome' and said the headaches and mood swings might come together, rather than one causing the other.

When googling the term 'serotonin syndrome', it looks like a case of too much medication, but I am not taking any medications right now. The headaches and mood swings occur on their own.

Does anyone else get headaches with a mood swing, and what helps?

I can't find any type of pain reliever to help with the pain, and the headaches last most of the day, and are very strong. Thankfully, they are going away as my mood swing is ending, but I want to be prepared for the next swing.
