I've been on Lamictal now for 5 weeks. I've been at 100 mg for the last week and am not feeling much of an effect. Would it be too early in the corse of taking this med to ask my doctor if we could try adding Topamax? I've heard that the two of these meds are suppose to work good together. The last time I spoke to my pdoc about it which was about 2 weeks ago, he wanted me to wait and see what the Lamictal alone would do. He said that he thinks this is going to be the right med for me and that I probably won't need another one added. I see him next week Monday and wanted to bring it up again. I had taken it in the past for 5 weeks and the last 2 of those weeks was with Lamictal. I had no cognitive side effects, only the known tingling in my fingers and even my lipps. I could live with a side effect that minor. I ended up going to a real pdoc instead of seeing the nurse practioner that had me on the two meds and he stopped the Topamax and kept me on the Lamictal and added Seroquel and Zoloft. The add on of the Seroquel and Zoloft was terrible. The akastisa and anxiety was horrible. We went through several rounds of different meds in 3 months until I found a new pdoc which is the one I'm seeing now. I just wish he would let me try it again with the Lamictal. I could tell by the way that my appetite had drastically decreased and my compulsive eating had stopped while on it and I was only on 50 mg. Since I stopped the Topamax, the compulsive eating had returned along with weight gain. How do you talk to a pdoc and try to convince them to let you try a med? I even wanted to ask him about Provigil but I'm affraid of what he'll say.
