Psychopharm experts...zyprexa single dose vs split

Posted by blueberry on May 28, 2006, at 12:49:23

My recent suicidal crash I blamed on lamictal since it was the only thing that had changed. But actually there was one other thing that had changed. I comlained to my doc about the 24 hour ebb and flow of zyprexa single dose and she suggested splitting it into two doses. I did that for two days before my crash. Instead of 2.5mg in the evening, it was 1.25 in the evening and 1.25 at lunch.

So I'm wondering from the psychopharm experts out there, do you think this split dosing would change the way zyprexa works? I mean, maybe 1.25mg just doesn't have the umph to bind to receptors the way 2.5mg does, or something like that? Even though blood levels would be the same, just smoother without peaks and valleys, maybe 1.25mg at a time just doesn't have enough bang? Anything else to consider? What do you think?

The poster "heaven help me" suggested this could be a cause of the crash and it seemed possible to me so I am wondering. Have gone back to single dose to stabilize and remove the uncertainty for now while lamictal washes out.

I have my doubts about this though, because I began recovering pretty quickly about 36 hours after my last lamictal dose.
