In reply to Seroquel for insomnia?, posted by RobertDavid on May 11, 2006, at 22:22:32
The use of neuroleptic antipsychotics to treat insomnia is bound to be a source of debate. Seroquel does a great job of putting people to sleep and keeping them asleep. I don't feel that the risk of EPS is that high with Seroquel. However, I would still be inclined to first try a benzodiazepine drug like Restoril (temazepam) or Ativan (lorazepam) in situations such as yours. I think Restoril would be the better choice if you are having no problems falling asleep. It produces less of a hangover than does Ativan, although I don't find Ativan to be that bad in this regard.
