I've tried Cymbalta, Effexor and Zoloft, along with supplements supposed to affect serotonin ( saint john's wort, 5-htp, tryptophan ) all with limited results.
Back in January I tried Wellbutrin and felt very energized, very positive, but couldn't sleep, so I stopped it after 3 weeks.
I tried SAMe and think I noticed a pretty good effect but haven't taken more than 400mg yet.
This past week my doctor suggested that I try Selegiline, and during the first 2 days I noticed the effect right away ( very positive ), but again, like on Wellbutrin, I couldn't sleep ( maybe 2 hours a night ). I have never had insomnia that bad except on these drugs.
So SSRI type drugs have little effect, while dopamine-affecting drugs have too much of an effect. I know I could take other meds to try to tone down and balance the AD, but I'm wondering if there are any other suggestions. I've thought of breaking apart the selegiline pill and taking just a micro dose, but I'm not sure if breaking the pill apart is a good idea or not.
Or I could try higher doses of SAMe, I suppose.
