good question,
I would answer, my opinion only, a qualified yes.
Psychotherapy can be very helpful. However the more serious your disease(like schizophrenia,
bipolar I) the less therapy is going to help your condition and just help you cope with it.For ADD if you aren't using a prescription medication I'd start using caffeine throughout the day as a replacement.
From my limited understanding, the brain is plastic, even in adulthood, and can be rewired,or retrained if you prefer. However I think that the more genetically determined a disease is the less control you will be able to exert over it's course.
