I agree -- if you felt that you are better enough to reduce from 4mg Xanax (which is about 2mg Klonopin and 40mg Valium) to a lower dosage , a modest benzodiazepine dosage, one should reduce only about maybe 10-15% a week especially if they have been on it long term. If "withdrawal" symptoms occur, its too fast, especially for something with a long half life. You could always crosstaper it to Valium and then discontinue, or if your insurance covers it to Xanax XR, though I think that's just a patent money waster, but it may prove effective for people who have taken Xanax for long periods.
