The metabolite of phenelzine (Nardil) that increases the levels of Gaba in the brain by inhibiting Gaba Transanimase is called Phenylethylidenehydrazine (PEH). Like phenelzine, it inhibits Gaba-T but does not affect MAO. According to the links below, PEH should be investigated as a viable alternative for anti-anxiety by raising gaba levels.
