Erythromycin interaction with diazapam

Posted by kerria on February 16, 2006, at 7:19:21

hi Everyone,

The dentist gave erythromycin, i'm not sure whether i have an infection from the dental surgery or not. i had implant surgery last Friday, almost a week ago- and went back to the dentist because pain was worsening and i felt like i may be getting an infection. The dentist was too busy to see me and an assistant looked. i'm allergic to penicillin and a lot of meds.

The erythromycin is making me feel so sick. i looked it up and found that it's probably interacting with the diazapam in my system. i can try not to take anymore diazapam until the erythromycin is finished- i don't take diazapam everyday but most days recently. My prescription says take one or two every day.

The erythromycin makes me feel so Bad - tired, so dizzy and have itching- i think i'm allergic. It wasn't important to the dentist that i took it or not anyways.

Anyways, i don't want to take anymore erythromycin, it's making me too sick. i know i should call about a replacement but i have so much trouble taking antibiotics. i don't want an infection though, i feel feverish.

Is there any antibiotic that doesn't react with diazapam? i'm allergic to penicillin, bactrim, other meds. Should i just stop taking it and wait and see? The dentist was so not concerned anyways. He didn't even look- just went by the assistant's judgment.

Everything is always so complicated and hard for me:(

Thank you for any ideas,
kerria
