No, a lot helps, trust me. As I said, I had the worst OCD a well known expert on it ever saw. And I conquered it. You can too. (This sounds like a radio ad but its possible with much effort and compassion from those around you.) I ended up working for their department after I finished treatment. It was enlightening. CBT is a very powerful addon to medicine, or you can say medicine is a powerful addon to CBT. Tons more is known about OCD now due to people like Dr. Jeffrey Schwartz, MD. and Lewis R. Baxter, Jr, MD, to name a few. The OC Foundation in New Haven, CT is an excellent jumpoff. ( http://www.ocfoundation.org/ ). Up to 2% of the population suffers from some degree of the OC Spectrum Disorders.
I encourage you to read that book and explore the OC Foundation.
