In reply to GEODON-made me manic once but LITHIUM???, posted by bipolarspectrum on February 5, 2006, at 21:03:12
I may have my meds confused... but I do believe that I tried Geodon twice: I had very different reactions each time. I'm not bipolar... a very moody and anxious depressive (perhaps bipolar 2) ...I'm reluctant to make any suggestions to those who are truly bipolar: my cousin was a very "brittle" bipolar. One day, she stopped her car suddenly on a freeway and a very large truck behind her ran over the car with her in it. You know your history: if you can safely change meds without a manic psychosis or switching into a suicidal frenzy and if lithium has worked well for you for awhile (with various meds,) I'd say a change to Geodon would be a positive change. Personally, I'd rather not feel sedated. I won't tolerate feeling it. (I spend too much time asleep with my depression as it is...) But, as I said, you know if it is worth the risk and if you can take the risk without endangering yourself. In the past (as I look back), I've changed or stopped meds for not good reason over and over.
