In reply to Adderall - generic vs. brand what mgs do U take?, posted by kotsunega on January 9, 2006, at 23:27:13
This is what Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary says about generic drugs: In the US, generic drugs are required to meet the same bioequivalency test as the original brand name drugs. Manufacturers of brand name drugs produce the majority of generic drugs and allow them to be sold without the original brand name. Generic and brand name drugs may experience manufacturing defects.
I take 5-10mg of generic Adderall 3x/day. The brand name version is more expensive & no less effective than generic in my experience. I really cannot tell a difference between the two. Generally, my response to any particular dose of Adderall depends on a lot of factors: food (i.e. cranberry juice); other drugs that may interact with it (i.e. caffeine, alcohol); how much sleep you got the night before; your stress level; daily responsibilities...You get the idea! :-)
It doesn't appear that you quite have the luxury of buying brand name because of your monthly overhead. Don't put yourself in economic hardship.
Take it easy. Peace...
