Inderal LA?

Posted by CareBear04 on December 27, 2005, at 14:12:23

Has anyone tried Inderal LA? I've been on regular Inderal/propranolol now for a few years, mostly for lithium-induced tremor. I'd been taking 20mg qid, and then my psychiatrist recently doubled the dose to 40mg qid when he noticed that I was still shakey. Taking the med four times a day is really annoying, and I often forget; plus, the 40mg tabs are really big and yucky.
I remember wanting to switch to the long-acting version a year or two ago. I checked it out on the FDA page, and I think I saw that it's bioavailability or something is only about half that of regular Inderal. My pdoc at the time confirmed that it isn't really worth the money. Does anyone have any experience that can confirm or negate this opinion?

If not, has anyone had better experience with other beta blockers for tremor? I've never tried others like atenolol or anything, but if they can be as good or better than propranolol, I'm definitely willing to try.

THanks!
CB
