In reply to Ok to mix Cymbalta and Wellbutrin?, posted by paul_d_234 on November 25, 2005, at 18:07:43
hey! It seems safe enough...Cymbalta is a pretty potent re-uptake inhibitor of serotonin and neuroepinephrine; Wellbutrin is believed to lightly inhibit the reuptake of dopamine, neuroepinephrine, and possibly do a bit of serotonin action (probably not much, since its side effect profile is so different from SSRIs). My big concern would be blood pressure, since cymbalta and wellbutrin can boost it a bit (sometimes a good bit in those who are sensitive to the meds)...you might want to monitor your blood pressure, make sure everything is OK. Also, most antidepressants lower the seizure threshold a bit; wellbutrin has a bad reputation for doing this, although with proper dosing this has gotten better (also, the SR and XR versions don't seem to induce seizures as often). So..just be aware of that, too, in case you've ever had a seizure or have risk factors (ex: currently tapering benzos). Good luck!
