Hi Carol welcome to psychobabble. It's a wonderful place where we all help each other. To answer your question about something to calm you down. Ativan is a good choice, so is klonopin, also valium, xanax are also good. Sounds like you need something longacting as your stress is ongoing. So klonopin or valium last longer. Have you seen a psychiatrist? I feel that benzos are a good choice. They will alleviate anxiety and calm you down very quickly. If a doctor suggests an antidepressant it will take a few weeks. In my opinion only a benzo is much better. And they don't have all those nasty side effects. You can Babblemail me anytime. Fondly, Phillipa
