I have some chemistry training and I wouldnt do the following.... Do you know how toxic the LD50 and explosive hydrazine is ? Its rocket fuel.
I've often thought how interesting it would be to synthesize hydrazine on its own (its not too difficult) but this is something for fume hoods, face shields, and chemical respirators. And chloroform, good heavens, ventilation is a must.
"In vacuo" requires some more sophisticated lab equipment, including a vacuum source (typically a water aspirator in a lab unless you have a huge budget for a mechanical one).
Chemical abstracts, like these, while they seem simple in a paragraph, aren't neccessarily the easiest thing to do, and one should definately have a well ventilated lab setup.
I like chemistry, but think first before one acts. And I'd be very hesitant to ingest anything that comes out of such an experiment or any chemical lab. Tests have to be performed to determine there are no solvents left in the resultant, etc.
