2 weeks is a very short time to decide whether an SSRI like Paxil is working or not. They say it takes 6-8 weeks to know for sure. How long did you try your other antidepressants? If you haven't been on Effexor veyr long, you might consider trying it a little longer and things might work out.

That said, if you go back to Paxil and find that you have the same side effects, you can take just a little Wellbutrin and that sometimes helps. I took Paxil for a while and I needed to take a very high dose to take care of my anxiety, but doing that made me soooo sleepy. So, I added some WB and that seemed to help. Of course I never found paxil to help my depression 100%.

Also, for some people the lethargy wears off after a while.
