In reply to info on prednisone for (atypical?) depression..., posted by iforgotmypassword on June 26, 2005, at 14:43:43

Oh my god! Why would you want to take Prednisone? I had to use it once for a poison oak rash and I was out of commission for DAYS! Couldn't sleep, couldn't think, felt sick all over. I was miserable. And from what I understand about that drug, it totally throws off your hormones and can even cause further problems like yeast infections, sugar cravings, etc. It's a steroid, I believe? Anyway, I can't imagine it helping depression but maybe I'm wrong... J

> hi. i am at my wits end. i got some prednisone from a friend and am not feeling like waiting for one of my doctors to get around to considering prescribing it or something else for me. if i take some now will it screw up my cortisol test tomorrow? was there any good documentation of this use of prednisone other than the one on biol. psychiatry? any info i would really appreciate. i'm sorry i am so ungrateful, i feel as if any hope of ever having a life has been ruined and every day i wake up in the morning is just another punch in the face. i'm very desperate to find something i can do.
