I think returning to an antidepressant makes sense. For what it's worth, I don't think the risk of Wellbutrin losing its effectiveness is as high as for the SSRIs or Effexor. If you begin with Wellbutrin, you can use it as a base from which to add other medications. Wellbutrin is almost like the "universal adjunct" that mixes pretty well with just about anything, including MAOIs. If Effexor has since lost its effectiveness, or you think it might have been making the fibromyalgia worse, I think Lexapro might be a good drug to try. Perhaps Cymbalta. Cymbalta has been shown in some studies to improve the symptoms of fibromyalgia, particularly in women.
