Depends on your definition for good. There is no ONE med that is good/right for all people with bp. Seroquel is fda-approved to treat mania and is commonly prescribed off-label as a mood-stabilizer. Lithium or Depakote are more commonly the first mood-stabilizer that doc's prescribe (as mood-stabilizers). Seroquel (and other antipsychotics) are most often prescribed for mania itself or as an add-on to another med(s). BUT it was initially prescibed alone as a mood-stablizer for me, so this does happen and it can work. It really comes down to the individual and the symptoms and pattern of symptoms. I would be very forthcoming and honest with your doc, even about things that may not seem important[to your dx] to you. Take the doc's advice and listen to your body. -Maybe use a mood chart to see if a med is working well for you? It is a little trial and error at first, but almost all people with bp2 can find a med or med combo that works for them.
