Generally not but sometimes helpful for certain symptoms of OCD ie anxiety.
The therapudic action of SSRI's in OCD is thought to be through activation of second-messanger cascades through agonism at the 5-ht2a,c receptors.
Infact hallucinogens like mescaline which are potent agonists of the 5-ht2 system, have been studied for clues into the illness.
Buspar preferentially agonises the 5-ht1a receptor which is responsable for antianxity effect, but does not seem to have direct anti-obsessional qualities.
