In reply to anorexia side effect of effexor?, posted by sourapplelolipop on April 9, 2005, at 12:09:26
Many people lose a lot of weight on Effexor. Then there are others who gain. But most seem to lose weight.
If you notice that the Effexor is making you lose weight and you don't want to enter that world again then switch. If you don't want to chance it all, then don't take it.
How long were you anorexic? It seems strange that just taking Zoloft would change your mind so quickly. I know anorexia has its grasps on me and I don't want to let go of it either. If I started taking a med that made me gain weight I would stop the meds. But maybe you are at a different point that I am.
So yes, there is a high chance that you will lose weight on Effexor. And I am sure others will post that they gained on it.
I realise I haven't answered your question. I'm sorry.

> hey i was just wondering if anyone had anorexia as a side effect of taking effexor xr and how long where you on it before you started to notice it? i ask because i was anarexic then started taking zoloft and gained tons of weight and my mind set change compleatly like "i dont care if i gain weight" so i stoped taking that and started taking effexor xr just the other day...i was just worried that i may go back to the anorexia mindset (once i read the side effects)and wanted to know what to look for. thanks
