Have been taking 10mg Lexapro, a direct swap for 20mg Celexa for almost 18 months, perhaps 48 months for Celexa + Lexapro combined, plus 20 mg diazepam/day plus 10mg Ambien plus 16mg Suboxone per day, all for about the past 20 months.

I have never felt any side effect from lexapro, but I did with celexa.

I feel better than ever, no poop out on the lexapro, no benzo poop out or tolerance, the Ambien works every night as expected and Suboxone helps with chronic pain and depression. I do, however, look forward to Lunesta.

The NoonDay Demon is written by the son of Forest Pharm, the company that distributes Lexapro. I recommend this book to everyone.

I have become quite psychotically anti-med in the past and have attempted drastic stupid rapid tapers twice, each time resulting almost in hospitalization, divorce and several suicide attempts. I tapered from Xanax, Klonopin, and Valium rapidly when I was young, also rapid tapers from SSRIs and tramadol and trazadone in the stupid past -- each time with a resulting return of major depression and psychotic episodes with hallucinations, sleep disorders, etc.

Now I know that I am a lifelong psychotropic user and any benzophobe that walks into my office or my life is immediately excised from my life. Beware the benzophobe -- they are not compassionate, but rather like preachers. These days, pdocs are much more savvy about benzos, but for those of us who lived through the Xanax 90s often benzos become a lifelong and non-toxic solution to GAD. I have never found that diazepam doesn't work, even after years of use.

Of course, you asked about lexapro and I find that diazepam and lexapro make a good long term mix.
I cannot afford to become obsessed about an Rx free life now that I have a family that depends upon me.

For those who find that lexapro has pooped out, often pdocs will recommend remeron or the old standby, MAOIs.
