Hi:
Serzone was taken out from the market already, last year or so, however the generic form of Serzone, "Nefadozone'" is still available here, in USA.In the past, I took the Serzone for about three or four years in conjuction with the Wellbutrin sr, as for Anti-Depressant combo. This combo. did help my Bp depression.
Having started out on a small-dosage, from 150 mg. and went up to the around the 450 mg. which was 'mass' dosage. I took the Serzone as 'mono' A.D. therapy and added the WB sr due to the concentration problem brought on by the Serzone or my BP itself, which I can not remember. Anyway, in spite of the 'bad press' surrounding the Serzone, I NEVER had any problem as to 'Liver' although I was advised to take 'test' periodically, two to three times a year for taking the Serzone. It was one of 'Miracle' A.D.s, because I was some allergic reaction to all of SSRIs, then to be honest, the Serzone offered me a great relief and peace in mind. Plus, WB sr saved me 'concentration,' 'motivation' and others related by working together with the Serzone. This combo. gave me such a relief that I still giving profound credit/gratitude to my pdoc. who rx'ed this 'wonderful' combo. However, for some reason, Serzone's effectiveness started to 'fade away' along with a nasty S.E. which I needed to make a trip several times during my nightly sleep. Then, afterwards, my pdoc. rx'ed the Trazodone. I started out on a tiny dosage, 50 mg. and now, after 7-8 months' I've been taking the 150 - 225 mg. before bed.
As to Serzone and Trazodone, ... in my experience, ... Trazodone is, as you might know, is an older class of A.D., while Serzone is a newer A.D. For me, Trazodone is more 'potent' than Serzone along with its side-effect. At the beginning on the Trazodone, I was so drowsy lasted next day, then for awhile, I needed to quit. However, for a good A.D. efficacy of the Trazodone, I gave one more 'shot' to take it again. The second time around on the Traz., I did well and has been working good on my Bp depression, not perfect, but 'acceptable' range.
In my 'personal' opinion, the Trazodone is a kind 'raw' feelings at the beginning while the Serzone is 'refined' type of A.D., ... however, the efficacy of the Trazodone has more 'power' than its Serzone.
Both, Serzone and Trazodone has similar efficacy, naming, 'Three,' ... 'Anxiety,' 'Depression,' and 'some for even OCD' brought on by Bp depression.
