I'm Bipolar II. I read somewhere (I think crazymeds.org) that mixing Geodon with Lamictal makes for a really strong robust antidepressant combo.
My doctor recently added back 40mg of Geodon (20mg 2xday), which I find is the dose that I can tolerate the best for me without side effects. I used to take 40 mg once a night in past, but I had nasty rebound anxiety/agitation when I felt the drug wearing off later the next day. However, when I went over 40 mg (I took up to 80 mg, 40mg 2xday), I started to get ADHD symptoms, I was in a 'fog'/daze for most of the day, field of vision was altered, muscle spasms/twitching, apathy, memory problems, demotivation, tired/sedated but can't sleep, worsening of OCD (pacing back and forth in one spot), Parkinsons-like symptoms, possibly Extrapyramidal Symptoms: which are all symptoms of low dopamine.
My doctor said that Geodon acts more like a dopamine agonist at very low doses (20-40mg). In my experience, at those doses, I have better mental acuity, more motivation, better social interactions, wider range of emotions, better concentration, and some help in depression. However, at higher doses (used for psychosis/schizophrenia), it blocks dopamine too much, and I get symptoms of low dopamine.
Anyway, I'm taking the Geodon along with the Lamictal which I started about a month ago. I just went up to 100 mg on the Lamictal and currently titrating up to 150-200 mg.
Has anybody ever taken Geodon with Lamictal?
If you did, how strong was the antidepressant effect from mixing those two drugs?
Has anybody else ever noticed an antidepressant effect from Geodon by itself?
