Both of them have the ability to induce sexual side effects, with more and more problems with increasing dosage. At the dosages used in treating schizophrenia, Risperdal definitely seems to be worse. At low dosages (<1.0 mg/day), however, Risperdal is not terribly problematic in this respect and may actually serve to counteract SSRI sexual side effects in some cases due to its relatively powerful and selective blockade for the serotonin-2A receptor. Of course, if Risperdal is taken with another drug that is a 2D6 inhibitor, this needs to be kept in mind, and the Risperdal dosage reduced accordingly.
