Well capacity for reward, meaning how much reward your brain is capable of receiving in return for doing certain things, is dictated by norepinephrine and dopamine i believe. It's much more complex than just the levels of those too neurotransmitters, but the inability to experience pleasure, i think it's called anhedonia, look it up, is resolved by using certain antidepressants and other drugs in particular.
