> Hello there, I am taking 50mg of Parnate. I have been on this dose for 5 days now. I don't seem to be seeing or feeling many positive effects from it yet. I have been on it for a total of 7 weeks. I do feel aggitated on and off. Prior to this I was on Paxil I loved it at first and it worked very well. It kept my mind from running constantly. It was really the first relief I had ever had since about the age of 9 or 10 years old. I have Avoidant Personality Disorder, Social Phobia and really anything that has social in it causes severe panic and anziety, also depression. I thought the Parnate would be much more effective. Paxil pretty much got me into an over load because the dose had to continue being raised. I now have my memory back and am thinking pretty clearly now. Which on high levels of Paxil I was out of it, but felt no pain. It was out of control I can see that now. But doesn't Paxil work mainly on Seratonin? What all does Parnate work on? My head is much clearer but the anxiety and panic are back and not pleasant. Does it take Parnate a long time to work? I don't like my new PDoc. She is the only one I have found to prescribe MAOI's.
> She is a very negative person. I am looking for someone new. Anyway, I didn't mean to stray from the subject. I have had tons of counceling along with the cognitive behavioral therapy along with more counceling, group therapy and it goes on. Both my Mother's & Father's sides of the family have all sorts of problems from agoraphobia to suicide to panic, anxiety you name it. I am the only one in my family to seek help. So, the family support isn't there. My husband is extremely supportive though. We live several states away from my family. You know everyday is like ground hog day. You get up and it all starts over again. It gets so tiring that it is frustrating. I just want so much for this Parnate to work. My next question is what are you both taking Parnate for? Also what else do you take with it, and Is there something that can be added to raise the Seratonin level in my case a little? My doctor has me quiet confused about it all. Oh, I also take clonazepam 1/2mg and hydroxizine I have been told I can take several, I usually take 2 at bedtime. I take a very high dose of the Clonazepam when I go out and it doesn't work as well on the Parnate as it did on the Paxil. It has taken the Paxil a very long time to leave my system it seems. Well, Your input would be appreciated and I appoligize for this being so long. Thanks, bluebird
Hi there, this is just typical proof how everyone is different.I work on a sales floor so you can imagine how difficult it is for me to handle anxiety,i am able to totaly control it at work, but at times when i do it turns into hyperness. Also doing so when i get home im exhausted, fighting anxiety seems to wear and tear the body as well.As in your case, all i can say is like you i take klonopin as needed,....25-.5 a day,but i will tell you for whatever reason klonopin does something to the parnate and creates a horrable feeling,so i try not to take it,and if i do i take klonopin ALONE,not in conjunction with my parnate dose.Klonopin for me is more effective take spaced apart from parnate, too bad sounds like a simple answer,a antidepressant that works, and a anti-anxiety that works, just take togther, but it doesent pan out that way.
I find actualy taking a small pieace of vivarin smoothes out anxiety more with parnate than a sedative, the parnate sedative combo seems to heighten anxiety and depression.
Lastly, one thing you might look into is trying a beta blocker to parnate over a benzo, ask ya doc about the possability, also from what i read nardil might serve as a better option for you is your anxiety seems to be worsening.I guess i should apologize to,this post wasnt exactly short either.
