Lyrica/Pregablin (sp?)

Was reading some posts earlier about this drug...is it in a relatively new class of drugs? I first thought it was the "new" neurontin...a GABA drug. Neurontin did NOTHING for my anxiety so I wasn't looking forward to it at all, but then I was reading it's more like a benzo? Can somebody tell me a bit more about this drug, and when it's scheduled for release?
