Consider Buprenorphine. If opiates help with your depression, you may be able to find a pdoc who would be willing to prescribe it to you. It has a ceiling to its subjective high that limits its abuse liability. If you take over a given amount, you will not get any higher, in fact it will start to antagonize its own actions at the mu-opiate receptor.
