I've had a long history of med failures for treatment resistent depression, but I finally found some relief in Remeron, @ 37.5 mg. I had tried just about all the 1st and 2nd line meds, and some alternative treatments, and never came close to the same success that I did with Remeron. I stayed on Remeron for about 2 years, with decent success, but the last 7 or 8 months had diminishing returns. The med finally "pooped out" altogether. I tried increasing the med (to 45 mgs)with no success before I gave up on it entirely.
My question is, it's been about 6 months since I stopped taking any med, and am not sure what to try next. I'm thinking about an MAOI (not thrilled about the dietery restrictions, even though I'm hopeful it could help). My Pdoc is ok with this. I'm also thinking about re-trying the Remeron. Is this just wishful thinking? A waste of time? Has anyone had success re-taking a med after poop out and a long vacation from that specific med?
My guess is it couldn't hurt but I'm curious if anyone has any ideas.
thanks,
TomV
