Effexor vs Effexor XR

I have to admit-I'm addicted to this board. It is so interesting, I can't get enough!

Anyways, I've been taking half a tablet of Effexor 37.5 mg in the morning, and the other half 12 hours later. My doc wants me to try Effexor XR, the same dosage, but just once a day since it's time release. Has anyone done this switch, and are there any differences felt or noticed?
